A Design For Success by D.J. Telfer
Frank Cremasco Fine Cabinetry - Still Growing
Since 2000, new home construction in the Greater Windsor Area has plunged from just under 2400 units to below 700 in 2007. This is another indicator
of our depressed regional economy and like the decline of our manufacturing base, the trickle down effect from declines in the construction
industry create similarly negative impacts on many small local companies and contractors. Yet, amid the grim reports of business closings and job loss, there are stories
of success.
Frank Cremasco Fine Cabinetry at 755 Morton Drive, is one small business that has not only avoided being dragged down into the ever widening
economic sink-hole, the Lasalle based business has been steadily improving. “We have been very busy, especially during the last couple of years,” says company owner Frank Cremasco,
adding that there are two important reasons he believes are key to the company’s continuing success.
“We have been fortunate to have established a close working relationship with several prominent local contractors. And I think our
decision to focus on the higher-end custom design and build project has provided us a niche in the local industry.”
Another key reason is that when it comes to cabinetry, the name Cremasco has long been synonymous for quality and craftsmanship. It was back
in 1976 when Frank’s
father, Bruno Cremasco opened Cremasco Cabinets on Morton Drive. With his wife Domenica who would shoulder her share as office manager and mother to the couple’s
three children - Frank and his older sisters, Bienna and Tina - the family business was born. Over the next 30 years, Cremasco Cabinets would
build not only the finest cabinets but a highly respected reputation as well.
For Frank, the family business and especially his parents provided him with the means and opportunity to accomplish his childhood dream.
A dream to follow in his father’s
steps but to carve out his own identity and his own reputation. A dream that began when Frank was still very young.
As far back as he can remember, he always looked forward to being around the smells and the sounds of wood-working and cabinet making. He
recalls spending many hours and days at his father’s shop. “After school, on the weekends, during the summers ...when I was a kid I loved coming here, I still do! I don’t think
there has been a time when I didn’t love this work and I knew at a very early age that this was what I wanted to do.”
From sweeping the floor, to helping build and install cabinets, to the ever-growing interest in design, Frank progressed through all the stages of development and learning
like a true apprentice. By the time he was finished high-school, he was ready to work full-time.
In 1999 Frank Cremasco Fine Cabinetry was created with Frank representing the next generation to carry on the family name and reputation.
Like his father before him, he was trained in the traditions of old-world skills and knowledge. But unlike his father, Frank can also apply today’s technologies
and incorporate the latest innovations in design and construction. Even so, both father and son share the most important quality needed for anyone to be successful:
passion.
Perhaps therein lies the most important reason why Frank Cremasco Fine Cabinetry is doing well: passion.
There is no doubting Frank Cremasco’s passion for his work. There is no substitute for the knowledge and experience he acquired through the many years of hands-on
learning and training. But instead of finding his joy just in building the cabinets with his own hands, Frank is more passionate about design and applications. His ability
to design and create very unique cabinetry, truly one-of-a-kind pieces, to serve any need is a perfect blending of his learned skills coupled with his imaginative integration
of new methods and products. “I’m always thinking about designs ...I spend a lot of time researching and attending trade shows.”
While Frank is endlessly passionate about design and functionality, he is equally passionate about the needs and wants of his customers and clients. From the start through
the completion of any project Frank is there every step of the way. There is nothing more important than providing customers with the confidence they gain knowing they
are dealing with the company owner who has only their desired interests at heart.
Today, although our regional economy is on the skids and many businesses taking big hits, there are stories of success and people achieving their dreams - people like
Frank Cremasco.
